Créée le 17 janvier 1981, au Cinema Teatro Cristallo de Milan, Klaxon, trompettes… et pétarades est une pièce, à bien des égards, emblématique de l’œuvre théâtrale pour laquelle Dario Fo a reçu le Prix Nobel de littérature en 1997. Mêlant de façon débridée l’absurde, le grotesque, la satire, cette farce militante déploie tous les mécanismes du comique pour dénoncer le basculement du pouvoir de la sphère politique à la sphère économico-financière. « [Cette pièce] n’est pas un manifeste, tient à préciser l’auteur, c’est une comédie. Comme disait Molière, c’est une tragédie qui génère comédie, absurdité et ricanement. C’est la base fondamentale de tout le théâtre politique de haut niveau. » En effet, dans Klaxon, trompettes… et pétarades, toutcommence par une tentative d’enlèvement qui tourne mal, celle de Giovanni Agnelli, célèbre homme d’affaires italien qui dirigea le groupe Fiat de 1966 à sa mort, en 2003. Suite à cet acte de violence, un homme totalement défiguré doit se faire reconstruire le visage d’après les photographies fournies par son épouse au personnel hospitalier.
Toute la force d’un théâtre engagé et populaire
A partir de cette situation, Dario Fo fait naître une cascade de quiproquos et de péripéties, tous plus burlesques les uns que les autres. De purs moments de bouffonnerie dont le metteur en scène Marc Prin et ses interprètes (Gérald Cesbron, Anne Dupuis, Céline Dupuis, Milena Esturgie, Gilles Ostrowsky) s’emparent avec talent et sincérité. Traversés par une énergie de jeu de chaque instant, les cinq comédiens passent d’un rôle à un autre (ils incarnent, à eux seuls, les douze personnages du spectacle), donnant corps à une farce totalement décomplexée. Ici, le ton n’est, en effet, pas à la demi-mesure, à la retenue ou à une quelconque mise à distance des ressorts comiques de la pièce. Soucieux de concevoir une représentation en prise directe avec le public, Marc Prin a su donner toute sa place au corps de l’acteur et créer, comme il l’explique, « un théâtre entièrement montré, matériel, explicite ». Un théâtre qui invite le spectateur « à une présence active et réfléchie – anti-télévisuelle ». C’est une belle réussite. Toute la force du théâtre de Dario Fo surgit dans la salle transformable du Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers. La force d’un théâtre profondément engagé, résolument populaire.
