C’est en 1995, sous le nom d’Orient Express Moving Shnorers, qu’a commencé l’aventure de ce groupe qui va reprendre les codes traditionnels d’une tradition, le klezmer, pour les dynamiser, dynamiter, en suivant les inflexions et improvisations jazz. Mais, depuis quelques années, le groupe avait quelque peu disparu des radars, son leader, le saxophoniste Pierre Wekstein, étant parti vivre à la Réunion. Le voilà de retour et avec lui toute sa fine équipe, pour partie renouvelée, tout comme le répertoire boosté par cette expérience australe, notamment sur le fécond terrain rythmique. Ce qu’affirme, entre les lignes, le titre de ce recueil, « L’Entre-Deux », rappelant les enjeux d’un idiome hybride par essence. Une renaissance en forme de renouveau !
