Knock est l’histoire d’une manipulation énorme. Que sont la propagande, la publicité, les discours démagogiques, les sectes, les religions, l’armée ou encore les campagnes politiques ? Un dérivé de la théorie de Knock, selon le metteur en scène Nikson Pitaqaj, d’origine kosovo-albanaise. Le héros de Jules Romains n’est pas tant un médecin escroc que l’apôtre d’une nouvelle religion – la science -, un outil permettant d’assujettir la population. Très connue, mais peu montée, cette pièce est pourtant d’actualité : elle parle d’une société effrayée, claustrophobe et frileuse, en proie à la peur de l’Autre, et obsédée par le discours tour à tour inquiétant et rassurant de la science. La paranoïa collective touche toutes les âmes de Saint-Maurice. La folie ambiante emporte une population infantile, soumise aux aléas de qui parle plus fort et se fait respecter dans la crainte. A travers des figures mi-bouffonnes, mi-burlesques, le metteur en scène brosse la fresque funeste d’une société qui vampirise les plus faibles et plus fragiles. Un classique à retrouver !
