Alors premier danseur au Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris, Jean-Guillaume Bart incarnait déjà le Prince Désiré dans La belle au bois dormant de Noureev en 1996. Une pièce qui lui a porté chance, puisque c’est dans ce même rôle qu’il fut nommé, en 2000, danseur étoile. Devenu chorégraphe – avec notamment La Source, une brillante superproduction pour l’Opéra en 2011 –, c’est donc un retour sur sa propre histoire de danseur, autant que sur l’histoire de la danse, qu’il amorce ici. Pour cette première collaboration avec le Yacobson Ballet, venu de Russie, il réinvestit le conte de Charles Perrault en s’appuyant avant tout sur la version chorégraphiée à l’origine par Marius Petipa à Saint-Pétersbourg en 1890. Si celle-ci a subi bien des remaniements au fil des décennies, elle trouve ici une occasion de revenir sur ses premiers pas.
