La Scène Thélème / d’après Manuel Puig / mes Laurent Sauvage
À la Scène Thélème, cette adresse originale qui associe à un restaurant étoilé une salle de théâtre, Laurent Sauvage est un peu chez lui. L’artiste associé au TNS y avait déjà mis en scène La Cuisine de Marguerite d’après un petit ouvrage étonnant de Marguerite Duras où l’autrice évoque pêle-mêle recettes de cuisine, quotidien et intimité. Cette fois-ci, il propose une adaptation du long-métrage de Manuel Puig, Le Baiser de la femme araignée. Dans ce film de 1985, qui a pour toile de fond la dictature en Argentine, prend corps une amitié entre deux prisonniers que tout oppose : l’un est un révolutionnaire incarcéré pour ses convictions politiques, l’autre un homosexuel arrêté pour détournement de mineurs. Dans cette nouvelle adaptation intitulée La Cage, les deux hommes sont incarnés par Laurent Sauvage et Thomas Landbo qui signe également la création musicale. De cette création collective entre un acteur auteur et un acteur compositeur naît, selon le metteur en scène, « un texte à l’économie volontaire pour faire surgir les choses d’une façon immédiate et frappante ». Et ces « choses » abondent : engagement politique, poésie comme arme pour ne pas sombrer, captivité, fascination/répulsion à l’égard de l’autorité…
