On a tendance à associer automatiquement le nom de Macha Makeïeff à celui de Jérôme Deschamps. Un binôme de metteurs en scène intangible dont la fantaisie décalée engendre souvent un bel imaginaire poétique. Il est de coutume de dire que Macha conçoit décors et costumes, tandis que Jérôme se concentre sur la direction d’acteurs. Mais au Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Macha Makeïeff sera seule à mettre en scène La Calisto de Cavalli. Le choix de cet opéra du premier baroque prouve que la co-créatrice des Deschiens ne se limite pas à des œuvres humoristiques. Du côté purement musical, le casting s’annonce magistral, avec la gracieuse soprano Sophie Karthäuser, le virtuose contre-ténor Lawrence Zazzo ou encore la soprano Véronique Gens, tragédienne parfaite. Des voix qui, toutes, connaissent parfaitement les rouages du style baroque. A l’instar du chef et claveciniste Christophe Rousset, qui dirigera son ensemble sur instruments anciens les Talens lyriques. Espérons que sa direction efficace mais parfois un peu distante saura exalter les harmonies si sensuelles de cet opéra vénitien.
