Christian Esnay privilégie dans le jeu d’acteur comme dans l’art de mettre en scène ce qu’on appelle une rythmique tendue, une énergie forte et exacerbée qui « fait » la théâtralité. Il crée dans cet esprit avec les élèves de l’Ensemble 17 de l’ERAC La Célestine (1499)de Fernando de Rojas, un rappel de mythologie moderne et tragique, propre à cette époque de Renaissance européenne. Calixte désire follement la belle Mélibée. Pour la conquérir, il s’acoquine avec la vieille Célestine, entremetteuse peu scrupuleuse : « l’érotisme et la cupidité galvanisent cette intrigue charnelle et truculente d’une audace étonnante », raconte le metteur en scène. Amour et mort, telle est la loi incontournable. Si l’on veut assister au travail de gestation de ce spectacle vivant, Christian Esnay ouvre ses portes aux répétitions du 5 au 17 janvier, du lundi au vendredi de 15h à 18h. Pour un regard d’aujourd’hui, c’est la découverte d’une œuvre grandiose et sombre du répertoire européen.
