En attendant d’accueillir George Michael en concert le 29 avril 2012, prototype du faux événement par excellence, le Palais Garnier nous réserve une des très belles surprises de notre saison lyrique avec la première à Paris d’une production célèbre, presque légendaire, du pétillant chef-d’œuvre de Rossini. Jean-Pierre Ponnelle (1932-1988), qui compte indiscutablement parmi les plus grands metteurs en scène d’opéra du XXe siècle, avait en effet signé, il y a maintenant quelques décennies pour l’Opéra de Munich, une lecture idéale de l’ouvrage, totalement vivante et pertinente, laissant s’épanouir les chanteurs dans un décor magnifique et libérant toute la grâce et la force comique du dernier opéra-bouffe de Rossini… Un classique ! Pour prendre tout son sens, cette reprise devra évidemment être accompagnée et réactivée par une direction d’acteurs digne de ce nom et une direction musicale habitée, ce qui n’est pas toujours le cas sous la baguette du « rossinien de service » Bruno Campanella. A noter aussi la présence, dans le rôle de la tendre Angelina, de la grande Karine Deshayes, idéale dans ce répertoire où elle a triomphé sur les plus grandes scènes, comme récemment au MET dans le rôle de Rosina du Barbier de Séville.
