Si l’une des grandes forces du festival de La Défense, c’est de proposer une semaine de concerts gratuits dans le département des Hauts-de-Seine, l’événement francilien a gagné ses lettres de noblesse grâce à son prestigieux et formidable tremplin. Celui-ci a permis de découvrir foule de jeunes jazzmen devenus aujourd’hui des références du jazz mondial. Le pianiste Bojan Z à l’affiche de cette 33e édition avec son explosif Tetraband en fait partie. A ses côtés, une flopée de concerts de haut vol : le puissant saxophoniste Chris Potter ou le pianiste au groove infaillible Eric Legnini. En bouquet final, le festival réussit l’exploit d’offrir un plateau de rêve : le prince du oud Rabih Abou-Khalil en ouverture du « meilleur quartette jazz » du monde (celui de Wayne Shorter). Et cerise sur le gâteau le lendemain puisque la grâce de Mina Agossi donnera le change au chanteur brésilien favori de Pedro Almodovar pour un concert unique en France : Caetano Veloso. Une affiche qui fait rêver.
