Avec la disparition récente de Sœur Emmanuelle en France, la dimension de Marie de l’Incarnation gagne d’autant en actualité. Née en France en 1599, elle vécut au Canada français de 1639 jusqu’à sa mort en 1672 où elle fut religieuse et fondatrice du Couvent des Ursulines à Québec. Elle oeuvra activement non seulement à l’intérieur de sa communauté mais dans son pays. Elle écrivit de 7000 à 8000 lettres, un document historique et spirituel inestimable. Le cinéaste Jean-Daniel Lafond et la comédienne Marie Tifo se sont penchés sur cette figure de Marie de l’Incarnation à travers ses écrits, ses confidences, ses correspondances et les lettres adressées à son fils Claude, resté en France. Il en résulte sur le plateau un autoportrait flamboyant d’une folle de Dieu et, qui plus est, amoureuse de l’humanité. Une déraison doublée de passion bienheureuse ! Marie Tifo entraîne avec elle un public contaminé par cet élan de l’âme de la belle dame dans la conjugaison éprouvée du théâtre, de la danse et de la musique. Une grande incarnation.
