En Interrogeant les origines de l’inconstance amoureuse, les caractéristiques et les comportements respectifs de l’homme et de la femme, Marivaux a élaboré une comédie pleine de piquant et de profondeur. Une comédie dans laquelle quatre jeunes gens élevés à l’écart de la société sont plongés dans ce qui doit ressembler au « premier âge du monde ». Ceci afin de déterminer qui d’un individu de sexe masculin ou féminin est naturellement disposé à commettre la première infidélité. Créée en janvier 2009 au Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier, la mise en scène de La Dispute élaborée par Muriel Mayette souligne la cruauté et la perversité des personnages de Marivaux. Découverte de soi, de l’autre, de l’amour, de la différence… Passant opportunément de la clarté à la noirceur, de la jubilation au trouble, ce spectacle tout en contrastes offre des perspectives particulièrement saillantes sur les sinuosités de l’âme humaine. Un jeu de miroirs éclatant aux sources de l’amour et de l’altérité.
