En 2008 à la Salle Gémier, Martial Di Fonzo Bo, acteur d’origine argentine bien-aimé de notre théâtre contemporain, crée avec Élise Vigier la Estupidez de son compatriote Rafael Spregelburd. La pièce est aujourd’hui glorifiée dans la salle Jean Vilar, quatrième d’un cycle inspiré des Sept Péchés capitaux de Jérôme Bosch, admirés au Musée du Prado. Le décor de Vincent Saulier installe avec panache un univers équivoque, une narration de road-movie, un long voyage par la route qui ne laisse découvrir nul paysage et fait arrêt sur des terrasses standard ou des chambres bling-bling de motel de Las Vegas. La dramaturgie privilégie l’esthétique du sit-com, ces comédies de situation tournées en studio, séries télévisées, scènes sociales de rencontres. La pièce est indescriptible, sans foi ni loi, avec ses vingt-cinq personnages, assumés dans l’arrogance et la précipitation du débit par cinq comédiens de haut vol, Martial Di Fonzo Bo, Marina Foïs, Pierre Maillet, Grégoire OEstermann et Karin Viard. Tous sont impliqués plus ou moins dans des trafics illicites, tendus par l’appât du gain et des plaisirs via les œuvres d’art, la cocaïne, le sexe, l’alcool.
Ces clichés nouveaux revisités, ces masques sociaux transgressés
Avec des mots creux, des semblants de conversation qui accusent l’image sous-jacente d’un trou moral, d’un gouffre sentimental, d’un abîme intellectuel où se perdent ces êtres errants. C’est que le chaos nietzschéen du monde souffre d’une absence d’ordre, d’articulation, de forme, de beauté et de sagesse. Et s’il s’agit de dénoncer la bêtise contemporaine, comme Flaubert en son siècle fustigeait la prétention satisfaite d’une bourgeoisie incapable de se révéler à elle-même, la Estupidez de Spregelburd montre du doigt une manière d’être dont l’homme sensé ne parvient pas à saisir les motivations, ni le raisonnement logique. Comment peut-on se perdre dans ces futilités négligeables, ces clichés revisités, ces masques sociaux transgressés entre le Warhol people et le glamour bas de gamme ? Des petits vols minables, des tromperies mesquines, des estimations frelatées de marchands d’art, les intrigues tissent une toile accusatrice dont les fils pervers s’emmêlent parfois aux dépens de l’attention du spectateur. Savoir ordonner le chaos reste difficile. La Estupidez, malgré ses longueurs complaisantes et sa récupération par les « vices » dont elle se moque, vulgarité, voyeurisme, lieux communs trash, reste nécessaire grâce à son dynamisme dialectique.
