C’est « l’histoire de Fausto, le chef manœuvre qui a perdu une jambe, de son père et de son grand-père qui portent le même prénom, de Paride Pietrasanta, patron de l’usine, d’Assunta belle comme une Madone et au secret indicible et de tous ceux qui ont croisé leur destinée » dit Charles Tordjman à propos du texte d’Ascanio Celestini. Le jeune dramaturge italien origine son écriture dans la rencontre avec les gens ordinaires dont il recueille les témoignages pour les porter à la scène. Dans ce texte aujourd’hui monté par Charles Tordjman, il récupère la mémoire ouvrière et éclaire les rouages de la réalité industrielle et politique de l’Italie du XXème siècle. Giovanna Marini joint à cette épopée des chants de lutte et de fierté, celle d’une classe démontée comme on débite aujourd’hui en morceaux les cadavres sidérurgiques, et dont on voudrait faire taire les souvenirs pour qu’ils ne se transforment pas en ferments d’avenir. Contre l’oubli, l’abandon et le silence, lutte et résiste le théâtre.
