Parfois le bon sens vient aux directeurs d’opéra. Plutôt que de se lancer dans une nouvelle production de La Fille du régiment, Nicolas Joël a préféré reprendre la version endiablée de Laurent Pelly, créée en 2007 à Covent Garden et qui n’a rien perdu de sa verve en parcourant le monde, du Staatsoper de Vienne au Met de New York. Les six représentations d’octobre permettent de retrouver le duo de choc – Natalie Dessay et Juan Diego Florez – pour qui le metteur en scène et sa dramaturge Agathe Mélinand avaient taillé sur mesure les rôles de Marie et Tonio.
Cinq ans plus tard, le même grain de folie, immortalisé depuis sur DVD (Virgin Classics), sera-t-il toujours présent sur scène ? Avec Felicity Lott en Duchesse de Crakentorp, il n’y a guère de raison d’en douter.
