Première apparition de Philippe Jordan cette saison dans la fosse de l’Opéra Bastille. Après Wagner, Mozart et Puccini, il s’attaque avec Verdi à un autre pilier du répertoire lyrique. Avec La Force du destin, le directeur musical de l’Opéra de Paris ne fait pas le choix de la facilité tant l’invraisemblance et l’extravagance du livret – sombre histoire de vendetta – donnent à l’ouvrage des contours improbables. Cette musique tantôt pleine d’allant, tantôt déchirante jusqu’à l’excès, devrait cependant convenir à merveille au jeune chef, qui bénéficie de plus d’une belle distribution avec Violetta Urmana (Leonora) et Marcelo Alvarez (Alvaro, en alternance avec Zoran Todorovitch) dans le rôle des amants maudits.
