Le Petit Poucet et le chaperon rouge réunis dans un même opéra. C’est ce qu’a osé Louis Aubert en composant, au début du XXème siècle, La Forêt bleue d’après les célèbres contes de Charles Perrault. La mise en scène de Mireille Larroche se base sur une idée pertinente : transposer l’action de l’opéra dans un camp de réfugiés de Sarajevo le soir de Noël. La dimension universelle des contes en est d’autant plus émouvante. Avec des artistes de cirque, la directrice de La Péniche Opéra crée des scènes à la poésie fragile, comme le songe d’une enfance regrettée. Malheureusement, le jeu d’acteur est souvent bien trop explicite, souffrant d’un décor de bric et de broc qui rappelle autant les installations de Christian Boltanski que d’incertains spectacles jeune public. On a l’impression que Mireille Larroche ne sait comment s’adresser à la fois à un public d’enfants et d’adultes.
Chœur homogène et lumineux
La difficulté vient aussi du fait que l’opéra de Louis Aubert est donné dans une version raccourcie, qui manque de cohérence dramaturgique. Dans la fosse, l’orchestre d’origine, à l’effectif pléthorique, a laissé la place à un ensemble d’une dizaine de musiciens. La transcription de Thibault Perrine et Cyrille Lehn fonctionne bien avec les instruments à vent (même s’il y a un abus des sons « bouchés » de cor) mais pêche par son traitement mal sonnant des cordes. L’Ensemble Ad Novem aurait sans doute mieux fait de jouer la carte chambriste plutôt que de tenter d’imiter l’orchestre symphonique. D’une autorité enthousiaste et généreuse, le chef Geoffroy Jourdain est venu avec son ensemble vocal : le Jeune Chœur de Paris. C’est la belle surprise de cette production. Composé d’étudiants du Conservatoire National de Région de Paris, ce chœur est à la fois homogène et lumineux. Les parties solistes de l’opéra sont tenues par les choristes eux-mêmes, dont les voix un peu fébriles siéent bien à l’imaginaire des contes. On aurait seulement souhaité une meilleure diction et pour certains une plus ample projection. La Forêt bleue n’est assurément pas le chef-d’œuvre oublié du répertoire lyrique, mais l’écriture de Louis Aubert, interprétée avec pareille conviction, se déguste sans déplaisir.
