« Je monte La Fuite ! parce que c’est beau comme l’Apocalypse, drôle et insolent comme Le Maître et Marguerite », confie avec enthousiasme Macha Makeïeff. Une raison plus intime de mettre en scène la pièce de Mikhaïl Boulgakov réside dans le lien étroit qui unit ce texte au destin des grands-parents de la directrice de La Criée, « Russes blancs » ayant quitté leur pays suite à la chute du régime tsariste. Comme eux, les personnages hauts en couleur de La Fuite ! s’élancent sur les routes de l’exil. Ils réinventent leur existence lors d’une pérégrination pleine de malice, d’excentricité et de mélancolie.
Une comédie en huit songes
Entre cauchemars et illuminations, à travers huit songes ouvrant sur huit étapes de voyage, Boulgakov magnifie le chaos de cette épopée. L’église d’un monastère, la salle d’attente d’une gare en Crimée, un local du contre-espionnage à Sébastopol, un manège de courses de cafards à Constantinople, le cabinet de travail d’un appartement parisien… La Fuite ! fait se rejoindre grande histoire et fantaisie poétique du quotidien. « Pour les acteurs c’est un chant d’invention et de liberté formidable », se réjouit Macha Makeïeff. Un chant qui fera s’élever la désespérance souriante de « cœurs meurtris, révoltés, perfides et nobles ».
