De la chanson festive pleine de gouaille, un son faussement dépouillé, des arrangements empruntant aux traditions d’Europe de l’Est : la Gargote est de ces groupes aimant autant les mots que les mélodies. L’un est féru de Brassens, l’autre vient des Beaux-Arts, un troisième est le plus Frenchy des Anglo-saxons, le quatrième vient du conservatoire et le dernier, Bavarois, jongle avec les gros cuivres… Tous jouent de plusieurs instruments et baignent dans des influences chansonnières ou klezmers.
Des artistes de scène, un répertoire poétique et un esprit collectif
Groupe de contact, aimant se frotter au public quitte à mouiller le paletot, leurs concerts sont chargés d’humour et de familiarité piquante. Leur ton poético-cynique, porté à plusieurs voix, s’épanouit dans un troisième album, « Pas Sorcier », dont la sortie sera fêtée sur deux soirs à l’Européen, à coups d’archets, de vents, d’accordéon, de copains, et de griserie entraînante. On y retrouve des thèmes traditionnels de la chanson réaliste : les marins, les voyages, les scènes du quotidien et de la rue, les petites histoires existentielles… Du bonheur !
