Avec cette pièce, Hamid Ben Mahi choisissait pour la première fois de porter une parole distanciée de la sienne, pour se lancer dans une fiction. Pourtant, La Géographie du danger ne raconte pas d’histoire : elle montre la condition humaine dans ce qu’elle a de plus dégradante. Hamid Ben Mahi endosse le rôle d’un homme qui vit à l’écart de la société, dans l’ombre, dans l’angoisse, dans la crainte. De l’explosivité habituelle de son hip hop, il garde un corps en tout en tension, oscillant entre l’ondulation, le tournoiement, et le sol dont il faut s’extirper. L’éclairage entre chien et loup, et le mur derrière lequel la lumière promet tant, sont des éléments auxquels son corps se raccroche, espoir vain d’un homme enfermé. La danse nous dit son malaise, le texte explore son esprit, et livre, par bribes, la part intime d’une vie qui s’accroche au passé.
