NOUVELLE PRODUCTION / OPERA BASTILLE
Contrairement à son prédécesseur, le directeur de l’Opéra de Paris Nicolas Joël a un faible pour les opéras véristes. Après avoir programmé Andrea Chénier de Giordano, il exhume La Gioconda de Ponchielli. Intrigues sentimentales et charme mélodique (kitsch, diront certains !) sont au rendez-vous. Comme à son habitude, Nicolas Joël sait constituer des distributions vocales alléchantes, avec notamment la soprano Violeta Urmana et le ténor Marcelo Alvarez, à la projection rutilante (déjà à l’œuvre dans Andrea Chénier). L’Orchestre de l’Opéra est placé sous la direction efficace, mais parfois routinière, de Daniel Oren. Quant à la mise en scène, elle sera réalisée par l’octogénaire Pier Luigi Pizzi et s’annonce sans surprise.
