En 2009, le film La Journée de la jupe avait beaucoup fait parler de lui : non seulement il signait le grand retour d’Isabelle Adjani sur les écrans, mais le rôle que l’actrice incarnait disait beaucoup de l’école, de la banlieue et de la société française. On s’en souvient sûrement : l’histoire raconte celle de Sonia Bergerac, une professeure de français dans un collège de banlieue, qui, découvrant un revolver dans le sac d’un élève, finit par prendre ses élèves en otage et revendique maladroitement l’instauration d’une « journée nationale de la jupe obligatoire ». Près de dix ans plus tard, le réalisateur Jean-Paul Lilienfeld a ressenti le besoin de revenir à son œuvre en l’adaptant pour le théâtre, constatant que les raisons qui l’avaient poussé à écrire cette histoire n’avaient pas changé : « l’école est notre société en modèle réduit. Et à l’image de cette société elle n’est pas aujourd’hui ‘entre les murs’ mais ‘au pied du mur’ ». Dans la pièce, c’est Gaëlle Billaut-Danno qui interprète Sonia Bergerac, sous la direction de Frédéric Fage.
