Après Le Chien du jardinier de Lope de Vega et Le Médecin de son honneur de Calderon, Hervé Petit et la compagnie La Traverse achèvent leur trilogie du théâtre espagnol du Siècle d’Or avec La Lutine de Calderon, comédie de l’amour enlevée et malicieuse, où l’héroïne se sert d’une armoire à double fond pour pénétrer dans la chambre du jeune homme dont elle s’est éprise, ou pour disparaître, effrayant au passage le valet Cosme tout en laissant perplexe le jeune maître des lieux. Femme fantôme, femme diable, femme magique, femme amoureuse… Faux-semblants, charme, illusion et fantaisie rythment l’intrigue quasi policière pour finir par mettre à nu la vérité et le triomphe du sentiment amoureux. L’atmosphère de clair-obscur, déjà présente dans l’autre pièce de Calderon montée avec talent par Hervé Petit, pièce beaucoup plus sombre, acquiert une qualité ludique et magique. « Si la vie est un songe, l’amour est ici une fantaisie » dit le metteur en scène.
