John est nostalgique, mais guère passif. Loin de se résigner à la disparition du rock’n roll, dont il a connu et aimé les grandes heures, cet animateur radio raté travaille des années à sa Machine à Remonter le Rock. C’est le grand jour, il vient nous la présenter ! Interprété par le comédien Georges d’Audignon, ce héros de la musique des années 1950 et 1960 est porté par le son du groupe Old John’s radio qui a conçu la pièce. Nous voilà donc à la croisée des disciplines autant que des époques dans cette pièce, où nous traversons aussi les différents moments de l’histoire du rock, depuis la fusion du rythm’n’blues et de la country jusqu’au début des années 1950. Le voyage est mis en scène par Kévin Goret, dont la responsabilité n’est pas moindre : il s’agit pour lui de nous accompagner à la fois dans l’exploration d’un dense répertoire musical et dans la psychologie complexe d’un personnage de fiction.
