Paumés en rase campagne, calés au creux d’un épais manteau neigeux molletonné. En panne. La faute au Delco, évidemment. Entassés dans une AX blanche épuisée, quatre rockers hirsutes attendent, écoulant tranquillement les heures à la bière au rythme hard des bits d’AC/DC. Jusqu’à ce qu’une certaine Isabelle débarque, vieille copine surgissant d’improbables fourrés à la nuit tombante. Deux autres chevelus s’extirpent alors du mobile-home en remorque. Après une investigation mécanique bien fumeuse (dûment confirmée par consultation téléphonique), ladite Isabelle donne le verdict : une semaine pour changer la pièce défectueuse. Du coup, les six artistes gaillards se lancent mollement dans une démo de leur « parc mobile d’attractions » un peu spécial : concert de rock virtuel, machines à bulles, à vent, à fumée, à vapeur, fontaines magiques, forêts de bâches gonflables… Ils déballent leurs merveilleux effets, bidouillés à la pince-sans-rire pour épater le public, le tout ponctué de « Ah ouaaais… supeerrrrr… » gentiment ébaubis et de commentaires exégétiques désopilants. Ça tombe à pic : on projette bientôt d’ouvrir ici un parc à thème Antonin Artaud !
Ironie douce
Nichée dans les alvéoles de la réalité, dans l’entre-deux du vrai faux, la fiction esquisse à petits coups une vision du futur culturel passé à l’acide caustique d’un humour décapant. C’est ainsi que Philippe Quesne observe le monde depuis son Vivarium Studio. De biais, légèrement décalé mais toujours lucide pour en révéler le tragique risible. Issu des Arts déco, longtemps scénographe, l’auteur et metteur en scène procède par agencement de matériaux hétéroclites – textes, objets, images, saynètes, peintures, films, musiques, etc. – patiemment collectés, plus ou moins par hasard parfois, ou bien hérités des créations précédentes. Dans La Mélancolie des dragons, il prend le théâtre à revers, désamorce tout enjeu dramatique mais en se jouant des codes de la représentation exhibés à vu et autres effets sensés capter l’attention et faire spectacle. Fidèles compagnons de création depuis La démangeaison des ailes, premier forfait de Philippe Quesne commis en 2003, les comédiens se glissent dans la peau de ces baladins dépressifs fort attachants et mènent le jeu avec une douce dérision. N’empêche que cette vision de l’art réduit à une surenchère d’attractions pointe avec une cruelle acuité les piteux atermoiements d’une politique culturelle en panne de sens.
