Notre société serait-elle devenue mélancolique ? Le thème est en tout cas porteur : après avoir inspiré une magnifique exposition au Grand Palais, conçue par Jean Clair, la mélancolie est déclinée à la Cité de la musique en une série de concerts. Pas un répertoire, ni une époque qui n’aient été attirés par cet affect. A commencer bien sûr par le siècle des Lumières : l’ensemble sur instruments anciens Stradivaria (11 novembre à 20h) a choisi de mettre à l’honneur des œuvres rarement données de Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, l’un des fils de Johann Sebastian, passé maître dans le style hautement expressif de l’Empfindsamkeit. On est impatient de découvrir sa sonate « Sanguineus und Melancholicus »… Compositeur mélancolique par excellence, tant dans sa vie qu’à travers son œuvre, Franz Schubert sera au programme du récital du pianiste Andreas Staier (12 novembre à 15h). Ce grand spécialiste des claviers historiques, au jeu racé, se produira sur la copie d’un piano viennois de 1826.
Différents états émotionnels
On retrouvera également Schubert et son Quatuor « la jeune fille et la mort » au programme du concert du Quatuor Ludwig, entrecoupé de lectures de poèmes d’Edgar Allan Poe par Alain Carré (jeudi 10 novembre à 20h). Deux rendez-vous à ne pas manquer pour les amateurs de musique contemporaine : l’Orchestre de la Radio de Freiburg et Baden-Baden (avec l’excellent chœur de la radio de Stuttgart) interprète, sous la baguette d’Ivan Volkov, La Melancholiade Pascal Dusapin (12 novembre à 20h). Dans cet « operatorio », le compositeur s’inspire de différents textes liés à la mélancolie, de Shakespeare à Saint Ambroise. L’Ensemble intercontemporain se lance quant à lui, sous la baguette d’Emilio Pomarico, dans la création d’une nouvelle pièce d’Hector Parra, Caressant l’horizon, basée sur différents états émotionnels, et dans la création française d’une des dernières œuvres de Maurizio Kagel (9 novembre).
