Tantôt en lévitation, tantôt accrochées au sol ou encore dans un étrange entre-deux, les trois formes qui habitent La Métamorphose – Die Verwandlung sont à priori très éloignées du scarabée kafkaïen auquel nous ramène le titre du spectacle de Sophie Mayeux. Mais avec cette artiste qui aime à développer des univers au croisement du théâtre, de la danse et de la marionnette, les apparences sont bien souvent trompeuses. Sous leurs couvertures de survie, la chorégraphe et les danseurs Hellen Boyko, Léo Lequeuche et Simon Caillaud interrogent à leur manière le même phénomène que Kafka : l’enfermement de l’individu « dans des carcans dépourvus de sens ».
L’art de la disparition
En dissimulant ce qui est d’habitude montré, exhibé en premier, Sophie Mayeux « interroge le postulat selon lequel la perfection se situerait dans la finitude d’un corps idéalisé pour au contraire mettre en évidence la prééminence du processus générateur des formes de la vie ». Elle va pour cela chercher son inspiration dans la nature, s’intéresse à toutes ses transformations. La morphogenèse, développement des structures vivantes, est son modèle. C’est d’après ses principes qu’elle chorégraphie son ballet de couvertures dorées, dont la capacité à rendre invisibles ceux qui s’en enveloppent lui permet d’aller au bout de la métamorphose.
