En examinant les brochures des orchestres français, un constat s’impose : chaque formation ou presque se lance, cette saison, dans au moins un projet « crossover ». Sous cette étiquette se retrouvent les concerts mêlant classique et musiques actuelles, que ce soit avec des artistes de pop, des jazzmen, des chanteurs de rock ou des musiciens traditionnels… Les deux parties ont aujourd’hui tout à gagner à se lancer dans ce type de projets : l’orchestre symphonique peut espérer séduire un public plus large, celui qui ne vient normalement pas aux concerts classiques, et l’artiste de variété voit son prestige renforcé. D’un point de vue artistique, ce genre de rencontres reste néanmoins imprévisible : la sauce peut prendre ou… pas. Parmi les réussites, on citera le concert mythique de l’Orchestre philharmonique de Berlin avec le groupe de rock allemand Scorpions. Puissance et énergie rythmique se retrouvaient des deux côtés. On oubliera par contre très vite certains enregistrements de musiciens classiques pourtant talentueux, voulant s’improviser jazzmen… Mais comme toujours, le mieux est de juger en « live ». Et ça tombe bien : dans les semaines qui viennent, les mélomanes pourront découvrir quelques alliances inattendues.
Flirts électros
A commencer par la rencontre entre l’Orchestre des Pays de Savoie et le trio de jazz formé par Emmanuel Bex (à l’orgue Hammond), Francesco Bearzatti (au saxophone et à la clarinette) et Simon Goubert (à la batterie), sous l’égide de Franck Tortiller (le 15 octobre, dans le cadre du Festival Savoie d’Jazz Festival). On ne manquera pas non plus les prometteurs flirts électros de l’Orchestre de Chambre de Genève dirigé par David Greilsammer, en résidence à la Gaité Lyrique à Paris, le concert de l’Orchestre de l’Opéra de Rouen avec le groupe cubain Compay Segundo, connu dans le monde entier depuis le film « Buena vista social club » (les 17 et 18 novembre). A Nantes, l’énergique John Axelrod dirige l’Orchestre national des Pays de la Loire dans la Suite pour jazz band de Duke Ellington (les 30 et 31 décembre). Et d’ores et déjà, on peut annoncer quelques événements de l’année prochaine, d’autant qu’ils risquent d’afficher très vite complets : Julien Clerc se produit avec l’Orchestre national de Lorraine (les 4 et 5 avril) tandis que l’Orchestre de chambre de Toulouse accueille la chanteuse pop-world Natacha Atlas (le 8 juin).
