Auber n’est pas uniquement une station de RER… Né en 1782 et mort en 1871, le compositeur Daniel-François-Esprit Auber excella dans le genre de l’opéra comique. Rien d’étonnant donc à ce que la Salle Favart et son directeur Jérôme Deschamps le remettent désormais à l’honneur. Après Fra Diavolo en 2009, place cette saison à La Muette de Portici, œuvre créée en 1828. Le livret, hautement politique, décrit la révolution du peuple de Naples contre l’occupation espagnole. La mise en scène a d’ailleurs été confiée à une figure bien connue du théâtre contemporain italien : Emma Dante, à qui l’on doit une version remarquée, il y a trois ans, de Carmen à la Scala de Milan. La distribution réunit notamment Elena Borgogni (Fenella), Maxim Mironov (Alphonse), Eglise Gutierrez (Elvire)… Patrick Davin dirige l’Orchestre de la Monnaie de Bruxelles, co-producteur du spectacle (l’un des airs de la Muette de Portici fut l’hymne du mouvement pour l’indépendance de la Belgique…).
