« Transposition théâtrale d’une expérience personnelle », La Niaque n’est pas le énième témoignage édifiant sur les capacités de résilience des fils de prolo et des gosses de banlieue réussissant à transcender les conditions initiales de la déveine. C’est plutôt et avant tout un spectacle qui emprunte à l’adolescence, « âge à l’impulsion vitale trop forte », son rythme et son énergie, ainsi qu’au Krump (danse vivace et joyeuse aux allures de parade agressive, née dans le sillage du hip-hop) sa virevoltante ardeur et son dynamisme audacieux. Nassim vient de perdre sa mère. Vivant ce deuil comme une libération autant que comme une privation, il se débat dans les contradictions que lui impose la vie : entre le foyer et le lycée, entre le langage des amis et celui de l’école (parlant avec les mots de Montesquieu en pleine banlieue), entre le réel et l’imaginaire, entre lui-même et les fantômes et les asticots qui le harcèlent en rêve… Pour rendre compte des émotions de son héros, Chad Chenouga fait intervenir des danseurs de Krump, cette « danse née dans les années 2000 au cœur des bas quartiers de Los Angeles », dont les joutes chorégraphiques et ludiques commencent à faire des adeptes en France. Equilibrant ainsi la puissance des corps et celle des mots, cherchant l’énergie dans le verbe autant que dans le geste, Chad Chenouga fait le portrait original d’un de ces nouveaux petits enfants du siècle…
