Sylvie Brély, fondatrice de l’excellent label Zig-Zag Territoires et directrice du programme « Claviers » de la Fondation Royaumont, a créé en 2017 une association visant à faire redécouvrir la grande tradition des claviers des XVIIIe et XIXe siècles. Dans ce temple du piano romantique, dont le nom, « La Nouvelle Athènes », fait référence au quartier parisien où se réunissait vers 1830 George Sand, Chopin, Scheffer ou le facteur de pianos Camille Pleyel, on s’intéresse autant aux instruments eux-mêmes (une collection de pianos de la période 1750-1850 est en cours de constitution) qu’à la compréhension
approfondie du langage, de l’esthétique et des techniques de jeu de l’époque. Une série de concerts débute le 11 décembre en même temps que paraît le premier volume d’une collection promise à de nombreuses autres éditions : Dans un salon de La Nouvelle Athènes – Live au Petit Palais : Liszt, Chopin, Kalkbrenner. Parmi les nombreux interprètes associés à ces soirées, citons les pianistes (ou pianofortistes) Olga Pashchenko et Laura Granero (le 11 à 19h), Aurélien Delage, Aline Zylberajch et Philippe Grisvard (le 18 à 20h), Dmitry Ablogin, Edoardo Torbianelli et Benjamin d’Anfray (le 20 à 20h) et enfin Piet Kuijken, Eloy Orzay et Luca Montebugnoli (le 7 février à 20h).
