Un homme se débat, « mots contre maux ». Acculé à la solitude et à l’incompréhension, il hurle son malaise face à un monde qui n’est confortable qu’aux possédants. Floué par les hommes, trahi par les putes, volé, dépouillé et rejeté par une société cruelle et brutale, il se dresse dans le flot de sa propre parole, submergé par un torrent terrifiant dont la puissance le terrasse. Le texte de Koltès fait résonner toutes les violences contemporaines : la nuit des villes privées d’urbanité, le sous-sol des cités putrides, la perdition d’un sous-prolétariat méprisé et pourtant ivre de nouvelles révoltes, et les mesquineries d’une société raciste et homophobe. Clotilde Labbé choisit le mouvement et l’interaction pour dessiner cette traversée du désert : « les spectateurs se déplacent et avancent dans la pensée comme dans l’espace. Il n’y a pas de décor, mais le spectacle débutera en dehors de la salle et finira dans la salle obscure. Comme le chemin du réel à l’imaginaire. »
