La Scala Provence / Texte d’après Stefan Zweig / Mise en scène d’Élodie Menant
Avec La Peur, l’auteur autrichien Stefan Zweig (1881-1942) nous mène comme dans bien de ses écrits dans la Vienne du début de siècle. Écrite en 1913, publiée pour la première fois à Berlin en 1920, cette nouvelle a suscité bien des envies de cinéma, notamment chez Roberto Rossellini qui en fait un film en 1954. Dans l’histoire d’Irène, mère au foyer trompant son avocat de mari avec un musicien, construite à la manière d’un roman à suspense, la comédienne et metteure en scène Élodie Menant voit quant à elle un fort potentiel théâtral. Elle adapte le texte afin d’approfondir les personnages et de leur offrir des répliques. Dans une scénographie inspirée de l’univers d’Hitchcock, elle interprète en alternance avec Hélène Degy le rôle central, tandis que le mari est joué par Aliocha Itovitch, et la petite amie de l’amant d’Irène par Ophélie Marsaud. Le mensonge imaginé par Stefan Zweig est entre de bonnes mains.
