« C’est un objet très particulier, un spectacle immersif que nous avons créé avec Simon Fayolle, lauréat du prix Radio France pour les cinquante ans de la Maison de la radio » explique Bruno Buffoli, directeur de la Compagnie Anyone else but you. La plaine était bleue plonge immédiatement le spectateur dans les ténèbres des champs de bataille de la Première guerre mondiale, et s’affirme aussi comme spectacle politique, auquel la Der des Der « sert de terreau pour un discours plus humaniste », précise l’adaptateur et metteur en scène. En forme d’émission de radio décalée, s’appuyant notamment sur les témoignages écrits de Louis Barthas, tonnelier appelé à servir caporal dans les secteurs les plus meurtriers du front, témoignages émaillés de commentaires empruntés à quelques écrivains, le comédien Pierre Foviau raconte en direct… « Lentement la pénombre, puis le noir quasi total, la spatialisation du son, la quadriphonie, puis les odeurs font ‘déguster’ au spectateur l’horreur de la guerre, les yeux fermés, l’imaginaire à l’affût ».
