La Résistible ascension d’Arturo Ui
Théâtre de l’Oulle / de Bertolt Brecht / mise en clown Victor Quezada-Perez
Créée par Victor Quezada-Perez en 1998, la compagnie Umbral a pour projet de développer le travail du clown en lui donnant une autre dimension que celle utilisée dans le cirque. Ainsi, sur la scène du Théâtre de l’Oulle, les membres de la compagnie francilienne investissent La Résistible Ascension d’Arturo Ui, pièce de Bertolt Brecht éclairant la prise de pouvoir d’Adolphe Hitler à travers les agissements, au début des années 1930, d’un petit malfrat vivant à Chicago. « Chacun des personnages de cette pièce est un prédateur, fait remarquer Victor Quezada-Perez. Arturo Ui est et devient lui-même le prédateur suprême. Nous allons, dans cette mise en clown, mettre en lumière sur un échiquier théâtral ce jeu de pouvoir. (…) L’échiquier ne sera pas simplement un espace naïf de jeu, mais deviendra le lieu d’un théâtre cruel. » Au sein d’un univers en noir et blanc, le comédien et metteur en scène travaille ainsi, grâce au clown, à faire voyager les spectateurs entre cruauté et sublime, violence et rire, grotesque et prise de conscience politique.
