Théâtre de la Cité InternationaleChorégraphies Xavier Le Roy
Trois soli : c’est ainsi que, pudiquement, le Théâtre de la Cité Internationale a intitulé le temps fort dédié au chorégraphe Xavier Le Roy. Rien d’autre que trois solos, effectivement, mais qui restent emblématiques d’une démarche débutée en 1998 par Self Unfinished. A ce moment, l’artiste commence à déployer une gestuelle où le corps sort de ses propres limites, où la perception est sans arrêt brouillée par l’insolite d’une présence qui ne convoque aucune référence. Son étrangeté, il la revendique l’année d’après avec un nouveau solo, Produit de Circonstances, où sa propre identité est mise à mal dans une forme de conférence qui déconstruit le discours même sur la danse.
Brouiller les cadres de la représentation
Plus récent, Le Sacre du Printemps préfère s’attacher au geste du chef d’orchestre sous l’emprise de la partition de Stravinsky, comme matière à danser. Ce retour en arrière sur les solos de Xavier Le Roy n’est qu’un premier pas vers une autre forme de panorama de son œuvre, proposée par le Centre Pompidou : Rétrospective déjouera les codes de l’espace muséal pendant plusieurs semaines, invitant une vingtaine de danseurs à l’habiter. Performance, expo, chorégraphie… une fois encore, Xavier Le Roy réinvente les formes et joue avec les mots.
