La musique de Rossini est une belle école d’énergie. C’est encore plus vrai pour cette Échelle de soie où le compositeur mène tambour battant une énième variation sur le thème du « mariage secret ». La musique semble toujours aiguillonner les personnages, piquant leur désir autant que leur curiosité – pour ne pas dire leur voyeurisme. Il en résulte un chant toujours en alerte (l’orchestre ne l’est pas moins, et ce dès la célèbre ouverture). L’intérêt d’y faire entendre de jeunes chanteurs – comme ici les artistes de l’Académie de l’Opéra, soutenus par l’orchestre-atelier Ostinato – est évident : un défi de virtuosité mais aussi d’écoute mutuelle et d’énergie partagée. Tout aussi bienvenu est le choix de Pascal Neyron, remarqué pour la vivacité de ses mises en scène, notamment aux côtés de la compagnie Les Frivolités parisiennes.
