Elle est là, seule, assaillie de questions que l’on n’entend pas, poursuivie par les souvenirs d’une ancienne captivité. Confrontée à un retour au réel à la fois douloureux et libérateur, cette jeune fille tente de dire l’indicible, de revenir sur sa séquestration, sur toute la force et l’ambiguïté du rapport affectif qui s’est instauré, pendant plusieurs années, entre elle et son ravisseur. Si Jean Delabroy s’est inspiré d’un fait divers pour créer ce monologue intérieur composé de voix multiples, il s’est libéré de tout devoir de fidélité réaliste ou journalistique pour donner naissance à une œuvre polyphonique et poétique. Une œuvre que Michel Didym (qui prendra la succession de Charles Tordjman à la direction du Théâtre de la Manufacture – Centre dramatique national de Lorraine en janvier 2010) aborde en se demandant comment tenir en scène la fureur et la haine de cette jeune fille, comment incarner de tels sentiments, jusqu’où les faire entendre. « De telles questions ne sont pas qu’esthétiques, précise le metteur en scène, elles sont politiques et éthiques, surtout. (…) Il nous faut user d’une délicatesse infinie pour entrer dans ces univers où les limites de la raison et de la passion ont amené des êtres à naviguer au-delà de leurs mers intérieures, au-delà de leurs propres sentiments. Ils sont sur un petit rafiot qui tangue sous la houle de leur incompréhension du monde, qui chavire sous les rafales de leur incompréhension d’eux-mêmes. »
