Théâtre Le Cabestan / texte de Alan Sillitoe / traduction François Gallix / mes Patrick Mons
La nouvelle de l’auteur Alan Sillitoe, classique de la littérature britannique paru en 1959, retrace le parcours du jeune Colin Smith, enfermé dans une maison de correction pour vol mais autorisé à sortir chaque jour pour courir. S’il gagne la course des établissements de redressement, il sera réhabilité. Dans une langue très musicale traduite par François Gallix, et avec, en symbiose avec le coureur, la musique d’Art Pepper interprétée par Esaïe Cid, le spectacle se déploie avec force au fil de la course du comédien, dans un rapport très intime avec le public. Au fur et à mesure, la foulée alimente la pensée du jeune homme, construit son humanité, tandis que les endorphines stimulent la conscience et décuplent le courage. Patrick Mons souhaite « livrer ce texte essentiel et émouvant de la manière la plus directe et donner à voir l’immédiat qui se joue dans la caboche d’un jeune hors la loi ». Un jeune qui forge ses choix et découvre sa vérité.
