« Ce qui me manque le plus…, dit-il a l’assemblée qui l’écoute et le regarde, c’est d’avoir quelqu’un à qui parler… tout simplement parler… échanger… j’ai eu des copines… mais ça n’a jamais vraiment marché … je dois être difficile à vivre… » Cet homme qui livre ses sentiments les plus intimes est acteur de peep-show. Il s’est lancé dans cette carrière par hasard, après avoir été chauffeur de maître, serveur, enquêteur pour une société de sondages… Interprète de son propre texte, le comédien belge Paul Van Mulder dénonce, à travers ce personnage à fleur de peau, « la fragilité des liens sociaux et la place qu’occupe le travail, même précaire, dans notre quête de dignité ». C’est ainsi sur la solitude de tous les « écorchés de notre société » que se penche La Solitude d’un acteur de peep-show avant son entrée en scène. Sur le sentiment d’exclusion et d’abandon de celles et ceux – quels qu’ils soient – que le monde laisse de côté.
