La race de Laïos, condamnée par les dieux à voir couler ce qui jamais ne doit se mêler dans les familles, le sperme et le sang, est déjà presque éteinte lorsque s’ouvre le dernier acte de sa déréliction. Etéocle est sur le trône et les Thébains veulent l’y maintenir, mais Polynice assiège la cité au nom du décret testamentaire de leur père, qui a voulu qu’ils gouvernent à tour de rôle. Entre les deux jeunes gens incapables de reconnaître le frère en l’ennemi, se tiennent Jocaste, mater dolorosa dans le deuil et l’angoisse des trépas à venir, Antigone qui aime Hémon lui aussi perdu par avance, et Créon, dont l’hubris imbécile et vain, cet orgueil démesuré de ceux qui croient pouvoir aller contre les lois du destin, lui donne l’illusion de manipuler les siens alors que tous ne sont que les jouets des caprices olympiens. Point de salut ni de pardon possibles, point d’arrêt dans cette tragédie ténébreuse et brutale : la mort est le chef de cet orchestre dont Sandrine Lanno a confié à Theo Hakola le soin d’accompagner la partition verbale de sa guitare électrique.
Un spectacle qui parle au ventre
Au bord du chant à l’instar de bacchantes psalmodiant leur affliction, Anne Alvaro, Mélanie Couillaud et Mélanie Menu composent de leurs voix aux timbres complémentaires un chœur de douleurs qui donne à la tragédie sa dimension sacrée et la transforme en liturgie déchirante. Face à ces femmes que leur dignité musicale hausse au rang de victimes célestes, les hommes incarnés dans la haine, semblent des bêtes abandonnées par l’esprit, des corps tremblants de colère et de haine, des outres de sang, de fiel et de bile répandant leurs humeurs et celles des objets de leur ressentiment avec le plaisir carnassier de fauves écarlates. Bruno Blairet, Nâzim Boudjenah et Vincent Macaigne (Créon, Etéocle et Polynice) sont les proies d’une part animale devenue part maudite et éructent autour d’un Hémon à la force tranquille, Selim Clayssen, sorte de taureau résolu à l’hécatombe puisque les oracles ont condamné les Labdacides sans appel. Sandrine Lanno met en scène ce combat féroce avec une belle intelligence de la tragédie et de ses effets et ose un oratorio lancinant qui rend au vers racinien toute la plénitude de sa forme et de sa force. Une plongée dans l’inexorable provoquant stupeur et tremblements, terreur et pitié !
