« Une tour hantée. Hystérique. Et des filins, des drisses, tissant des
liens avec le grand dehors. La verticalité assistée. Et pour ça le plus drôle se
mélange au plus triste. Le plus lisible au plus incompréhensible. Une sorte de
consternation devant un monde qui s’aplatit en faisant semblant de grimper.
C’est ce que j’aimerais qu’on ressente. » Soucieux d’affronter la modernité
politique et humaine de notre époque, l’auteur et metteur en scène Gérard
Watkins élabore une allégorie théâtrale exposant l’érection d’un nouveau monde.
Ayant vu le jour ? dans une première version ? avant les attentats du 11
septembre 2001 ou l’ouverture à coups de hache de l’église Saint-Bernard par des
CRS, La Tour prend aujourd’hui en compte ? dans cette deuxième variante ?
les causes, les raisons, les faits et gestes ayant mené à ces tragiques
événements.
