Elles sont trois, aussi vieilles que le ciel, la terre et la nuit, aussi cruelles que la nécessité ou la justice que les poètes anciens croyaient mères des Parques, et portent les attributs de leurs antiques modèles. Maria, Lola et Antonia, campées avec faconde par Agathe Alexis, Anne de Broca et Michèle Simonnet qui semblent bien s’amuser à jouer les mégères vipérines, vivent sur une île au milieu des flots et font leur miel des restes des trépassés. Hirsutes comme des gagneuses de la Cour des miracles, décrépites comme les façades des rues de La Havane, loqueteuses comme des harengères mal embouchées dont le temps a pétrifié la beauté, elles pestent et éructent contre le sort et leur condition qui les ont faites bignoles métaphysiques d’un palais maritime improbable. La veuve entretient son cimetière miniature et pleure sur les défunts, la couturière ravaude un manteau aux allures de linceul et la commère écoute dans son coquillage les dernières paroles des cadavres à venir.
L’élégie scabreuse d’une hydre tricéphale
Philosophique et loufoque, poétique et décadent, poissard jusqu’au sublime, le texte de Charlotte Escamez est un drôle de mélange, qui emprunte à Kantor, à la mythologie et à la psychanalyse les clefs de son déchiffrement. Le grotesque est assumé et soutenu par une mise en scène inventive qui joue des accessoires et des costumes pour soutenir la suggestion tout en sachant ménager de vrais moments de respiration quand perce la poésie sous les torrents d’un verbe allergique à la censure. Philippe Fenwick, travelo ricanant, se meut ainsi en mouette émouvante pour pousser le long cri de sa détresse existentielle. Car hommes il y a aussi dans cet antre de femelles, mais hommes émasculés, hommes désinvestis, hommes affolés ou efféminés qu’incarnent avec une conviction peu commune Philippe Fenwick et Zbigniew Horoks, l’hidalgo et le dément. Dominatrices et perverses, les trois femmes renaissent en phénix malveillants à chaque coup porté à la virilité d’un fou qui supporte leur sadisme avec la passion enragée d’un chien trop fidèle. Cette farce pétaradante et burlesque, un peu lourde parfois de ses excès mais plaisamment iconoclaste, joue d’un rire qui tourne au rictus, dévoilant peut-être, derrière les oripeaux dont l’art et la morale le drapent souvent pour mieux le cacher, le vrai visage de la mort…
