L’opéra sacré La Vita humana de Marco Marazzoli, composé en 1656, est
la réponse parodique d’un compositeur surdoué à l’avènement et à l’explosion de
l’opéra populaire auxquels on assiste dans la vie musicale italienne au milieu
du XVIIe siècle. À partir de 1637, l’opéra sort en effet des palais princiers
pour aller à la rencontre de nouveaux publics et aborder de nouveaux sujets, en
particulier grâce à des troupes d’artistes encore inconnues (les Gelosi, les
Febi armonici, les Discordati?) et à une nouvelle génération de compositeurs
(Cavalli, Manelli, Ferrari, Sacrati?). Bientôt, cette mode gagnera toute
l’Europe. Face à un tel engouement, Marazzoli choisit, dans La Vita humana,
la voie de la parodie et du détournement. L’ouvrage, représenté pour la première
fois au Palais Barberini en 1656, entièrement allégorique, se présente comme une
réflexion sur les méandres de la « vie humaine »? Avec les voix de Claire
Lefilliâtre, Isabelle Druet, Camille Poul, Arnaud Marzorati et Jean-François
Lombard, le Ch?ur de chambre de Rouen (direction : Daniel Bargier) et l’ensemble
