On le sait, Nicolas Fouquet, surintendant des finances de Louis XIV, fit du château et des magnifiques jardins des lieux de fastes hors du commun. La fête « des Facheux » en 1661 en particulier atteignit un tel niveau de luxe et de beauté qu’elle déclencha la jalousie du monarque et la perte de Fouquet, emprisonné à vie… Trois siècles et demi plus tard, Vaux-le-Vicomte redevient le cadre (apaisé) de soirées musicales de grande qualité animées par l’ensemble Lachrimae Consort. Sous le titre « Délices Européennes », Philippe Foulon, son leader, dirige du violon un programme partagé entre les « Délices de Prudenza » de Vivaldi et les « Délices de la solitude » de Michel Corette. Des pièces intégrant des instruments rares comme la viola allinglese (petite basse de viole), le violoncello all’inglese (chez Vivaldi) ou encore la viole d’Orphée (viole aux cordes aigües doublées), que réhabilite judicieusement le Lachrimae Consort en s’appuyant sur de fascinantes copies d’instruments anciens.
