Duc des Lombards / Jazz vocal
Timbre rauque et voilé aux accents un brin éraillés qui fait penser à Nina Simone et Betty Carter, vibrato à la Tina Turner, cette chanteuse au pseudonyme mystérieux a publié un premier album intitulé « Black Acid Soul » pétri de jazz, de soul et de gospel, qui distille son charme vénéneux. Sur un fond musical minimaliste aux choix de production parfaits — un piano de bastringue dans le lointain, une contrebasse à nue, une guitare économe — Lady Blackbird chante l’amour désespéré, les souffrances intimes, avec la voix écorchée de celles qui ont les tourments de la vie tatoués dans leurs chairs. Sa première apparition en France se fait au Duc des Lombards. L’occasion de constater si le frisson de son chant passe du disque à la scène et si, comme on le croit, une grande voix est bel et bien née.
