L’avant-dernier opéra de Janacek est sans doute le plus complexe et le plus surprenant. Dans L’Affaire Makropoulos en effet, l’intrigue ne se dévoile que peu à peu, s’éloignant progressivement de la conversation en musique qui prévaut au début pour se rapprocher du mystère à mesure que les mélodies se déversent en flots de plus en plus violents. L’Opéra Bastille remet à l’affiche l’intelligente production de 2007 de Krzysztof Warlikowski, l’un des metteurs en scène auxquels Gérard Mortier a régulièrement accordé sa confiance (Iphigénie en Tauride en 2006, Parsifal en 2008, Le Roi Roger de Szymanowski prochainement). La distribution est inchangée – car que faudrait-il changer ? – avec Angela Denoke dans le rôle principal et le jeune Tomas Hanus à la tête de l’Orchestre de l’Opéra.
