Lahav Shani a 30 ans. Il est pianiste et chef d’orchestre comme son mentor Daniel Barenboim. Et il vient d’être nommé patron de l’Orchestre philharmonique de Rotterdam et du Philharmonique d’Israël. Rien de moins ! Depuis la fin de ses études à Berlin et sa victoire en 2013 au Concours Mahler de Bamberg, il a eu le temps de diriger quelques-uns des plus grands orchestres du monde : Radio bavaroise, Staatskapelle de Dresde, Philadelphie… Les Parisiens ont déjà pu l’entendre dans Don Quichotte de Richard Strauss avec le Philharmonique de Radio France et l’intrépide Edgar Moreau au violoncelle… Cette fois-ci, à la tête de son orchestre néerlandais, Lahav Shani a choisi Le Sacre du Printemps de Stravinsky qu’il donne là-même où ce ballet fut créé, en 1913. Son soliste ? Le brésilien Nelson Freire qui a choisi le Quatrième et moins aimé des concertos de Rachmaninov. Il l’interprète depuis longtemps et rejoint la splendeur pianistique et le puritanisme expressif du compositeur russe dans son enregistrement gravé à Philadelphie, avec Eugene Ormandy, en 1941.
