Cette aventure, initiée par trois artistes de cirque vietnamiens qui avaient auparavant usé leurs guêtres sur les scènes de France et d’Allemagne, a réussi le challenge d’un spectacle 100% Vietnam, étonnant de modernité malgré l’inspiration traditionnelle ouvertement affichée. Les quatorze danseurs, accompagnés de cinq musiciens, nous plongent d’emblée au cœur d’un village vietnamien, avec pour tout accessoire, le bambou. Celui-ci, utilisé de mille et une façons, sert à la fois d’élément scénographique et d’agrès. On navigue de surprise en surprise, l’imaginaire en émoi devant ce déploiement de force et de virtuosité tout en rondeur. La musique traditionnelle qui court tout au long de la représentation enrichit l’univers pittoresque de l’ensemble. Mais ne nous y trompons pas, il s’agit bel et bien d’un dialogue avec la modernité, sous couvert d’un regard « authentique » sur une culture lointaine.
