Les mots pilonnent, et cognent, tous azimuts, choquent l’inavouable cynisme qui se glisse en souriant poliment au cœur pourri du présent, ils l’excisent des plus secrètes pensées et le révèlent à force de marteler la réalité. D’un souffle rageur, ces mots-là éructent leur colère noire et puante où macèrent l’ignominie ordinaire et les bouffonneries sanglantes du commerce des âmes. « Finie‚ l’exploitation capitaliste. Nous n’exploitons pas la main-d’œuvre. Nous exploitons les désirs. (…) Si la réalité est à ce point absurde‚ profitons-en. Ils goberont tout. Et ils voteront pour nous. Parce qu’ils sont démocrates. Mais surtout pas un mot sur l’argent. Les démocrates tolèrent mieux un tueur qu’un voleur. Sinon‚ comment expliquer ces milliers de tortionnaires qui se promènent dans les rues‚ qui se dorent au soleil ? » jette Richard, la voix écorchée par la hargne. Reclus dans sa chambre parmi des reliques d’enfance et autres ex-votos, le monarque déverse le fiel acide de son esprit furieux, sous le regard complice du muet Catesby et d’un animal domestique, un sanglier empaillé. Maniaco-dépressif tour à tour loque et despote, il se lâche, crache, invective, insulte, salit, pisse, rote, se lave le cul. Il fulmine de tout son être, contre les manœuvres des gouvernements légitimes, contre la tyrannie sournoise des bien-pensants, contre l’égoïsme, la servilité tranquille, et la lâcheté insouciante. Vomit sa souffrance intime sur les blessures du monde.
Le plateau comme champ de bataille
Obscène, radical, provocateur, le discours trouble, dérange, gratte à vif les plaies et les contradictions de la démocratie. « Moi, je fais de la pornographie de l’âme, je dis l’inconfessable, l’indicible. » dit Angelica Liddell. S’emparant du personnage de Shakespeare, l’actrice et dramaturge espagnole joue avec cette incarnation du mal absolu pour fendre davantage les fissures de la société, en extraire une réflexion acerbe sur l’humain, sur la maladie du pouvoir et le pouvoir de la maladie. Survoltée, outrageuse, le regard sombre et le corps en bataille, Angelica Liddell dévide sa douleur en une logorrhée enragée, jusqu’à l’insupportable, jusqu’au malaise parfois, ébranlant chacun en sa conscience par sa monstruosité virtuose.
