« Je descends comme un mineur. Je vais au charbon de l’encre pour en remonter des images » disait Claude Nougaro, « ouvrier de l’écriture » comme il aimait à se définir. « Une note, c’est le vocabulaire, c’est dans le miroir des mots que je tourne le film de ma vie. ». Sa voix, charnelle, caressée par les rimes éclatantes de la musique, roulée entre les espiègles modulations d’un accent toulousain, reste à jamais gravée dans les sillons de nos mémoires. Ce chanteur-là était poète. Amoureux du jazz, du rock et des prodiges de la langue française, il savait cueillir les émotions parmi les herbes folles et le fatras du quotidien, swinguer avec les mots et les notes pour dire la révolte, l’amour, la beauté et la douleur de l’existence. Le metteur en scène Christophe Rauck lui rend hommage de belle manière : non sur le ton du reportage chagrin, encore moins sur le mode du panégyrique commémoratif, mais en le tutoyant, avec respect et amitié, peut-être même parfois avec une insolence complice. Il a fouillé dans sa biographie et son œuvre à travers des interviews radiophoniques, des documents télévisés, des témoignages, des livres, les disques, les textes des chansons…
Deux acteurs de forte trempe
Compilant tous ces matériaux, L’araignée de l’éternel s’affranchit de la chronologie comme de l’exhaustivité biographique et trame une fiction où peu à peu se dessine un portrait subjectif de Nougaro. En scène, Cécile Garcia-Fogel et Dominique Bérodot se faufilent entre les saynètes, sautent d’un extrait d’archive au moment présent, passent d’une humeur badine à l’humour insoumis. Accompagnés à la guitare par Anthony Winzenrieth, ils chantent, parlent, monologuent, se filment, se glissent de temps à autre dans le personnage. Elle, voix profonde, belle, captivante, d’une brutalité polie jusqu’à la douceur, laisse filtrer d’un tempérament sombre, des nuances colorées, des élans ludiques, des charmes pudiques d’une sensuelle féminité. Lui, drôle et mélancolique, l’intonation mâtinée de soleil, la présence très physique, jongle superbement avec le verbe. Tous deux forment un vrai duo, comme deux paroles, le féminin et le masculin, deux figures possibles de Nougaro. La mise en scène, qui manie vidéo, théâtre, danse et chant, peine encore un peu à tisser ensemble les pièces décousues du tableau et s’attarde sur quelques longueurs. Mais le rythme prend avec la musique et l’énergie de ces deux acteurs de forte trempe qui jouent avec Nougaro, s’amusent et s’émeuvent avec lui. Et nous avec.
